Monika Petschnigg has been working on the subject „scenic countrysides“ for some time. She applies paint with vehemence and speed. Then she partially washes off, scratches blurs and covers up the canvases with new paint layers using both a brush and a spatula. This leads to depth and expanse of space. The eye can wander throughout the picture right into the landscape. Her paintings generate an image of nature, despite only lines and spots which can be seen closely on the surface. The art of Monika Petschnigg centers around the complex topic of „nature“ but is not intended to imitate natural processes.
